World Peace - Piece By Piece (2010)


Tej Gyan Foundation is functioning as an ‘anchor’ organization to bring together various communities and sections of the society throughout 2010-11 and work with each of these sections in combination with different NGO’s and leaders on how that sector can impact world peace.

The vision and focus of activities of Tej Gyan Foundation during the year 2010-2011 has been to bring people from various walks of life together to work towards World Peace. On 10-10-10 (10th October 2010), the Happy Thoughts World Peace Festival was presided by His Holiness The Dalai Lama and included dignitaries and luminaries such as Magsaysay Award Winner Dr. Kiran Bedi, Former CBI Director Mr. D.R. Kaarthikeyan, Eminent Scientist Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, etc.


The program was attended by thirty thousand people and impacted the consciousness of lacs of others through a live telecast on various TV channels. A book on peaceful relationships called The Warrior's Mirror was released in 10 major languages. The book release event was also simultaneously conducted in sixty cities all over India as well as in Australia & United States.


The “World Peace… Piece by Piece” movement, one of the biggest gatherings for peace in recent times was inaugurated by His Holiness The Dalai Lama and addressed by various esteemed speakers like Shree Chaggan Bhujbal, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Padmashree D.R. Kaarthikeyan, Padmashree Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Padmashree Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Ms. Tami Simon and signer Kailash Kher, to name a few. The purpose of this World Peace initiative is to create a common platform for all those leaders who are working for peace; the confluence of thoughts and actions at the highest level, redefining the idea of peace beyond its current significance.

PEACE PRAYER CAMPAIGN FOR THE PEACE INITIATIVE

TGF has launched world peace prayer initiative in 2009. This was intensified in 2010. Now more than 5 lac participants around the world have signed up to demonstrate their support for the initiative, and are praying for World Peace at 09:09 am/pm. The prayer is launched with the understanding that the effectiveness of a prayer increases manifold when a large number of people are praying for the same cause at the same time. This will accelerate the onset of world peace. This prayer is not associated with any particular personality, religion, belief-system, or community. It can be performed even in the marketplace and takes only 2 min.
