The mood at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch on Monday, fluctuated from excited anticipation, to dull stupor, finally ending in mass hysteria. The reason for such an ending was the arrival of film star Shah Rukh Khan, who had come for the release of a book by Tejgyan Foundation, ‘The Source – The Power of Happy Thoughts’, which was released in English by the actor.
Social worker Prakash Amte, film producer Farah Sultan Ahmed and Tejgyan managing trustee Tejvidya were present at the event. The book has been authored by Tejgyan founder Sirshree.
For the crowd, the long wait of two-and-half hours was worth it, as King Khan didn’t disappoint them. With his trademark ‘salaami’, he entered in a grand fashion amidst thundering applause, his presence driving the crowd into a frenzy, which began shouting out ‘Don’ repeatedly.
“I was asked to speak a few words in Marathi, but the only words I know is ‘Gatirodhak pude aahe’,” he said! The actor even proposed to enact dialogues from his film ‘Don’, much to the delight of the audience.
Shah Rukh said that he looked at his job as not just a means of working and earning money, but as a means to put a smile on the million faces watching him.
“It is a good thing to earn money, to want to buy a home, a car etc. But along with this, there is a need for a positive thought towards humanity, your family, friends and the world we live in,” he said. He added that youth need not try to emulate anyone, but to be themselves.
Speaking about world peace, Khan said, “I am a Muslim, and the word ‘jihad’ is often misinterpreted and misused. It actually means to conquer your own negative thoughts,” he said
